The Tayshia Vibe
I’m Tayshia — a mother, an advocate, and a woman who has lived enough life to know what matters. But I’ve never forgotten the 9‑year‑old girl who spent Sunday afternoons watching old films and suddenly realized that stories don’t start with lights & cameras — they start with a writer. The Tayshia Vibe is my way of honoring her, and finally giving that part of myself room to breathe again.
I adopted my son, Jack, on my own — not because I was trying to be heroic, but because life handed me a moment and I said yes before I had time to overthink it. I like to say he was born in my heart, because it’s true.
I spent eight years as an advocate for foster care reform before Jack was born, work that shaped the way I see families, systems, and the quiet power of showing up for people. In 2023, I was Governor‑appointed to the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council for a three‑year term, serving as a parent advocate.
I hold a Master’s in Public Administration, I’m a double‑alum of the University of San Francisco, and I trained in screenwriting at the Seattle Film Institute and UCLA — which means I can write a compelling narrative and also fill out government forms without crying.
Today, I work as a Senior Paralegal at Microsoft, balancing a demanding career with the reality of raising a neurodivergent teenager who keeps me humble, laughing, and occasionally questioning my life choices in the best possible way.
I’m grounded, direct, and emotionally fluent. I believe in second chances, that road‑trips are good for the soul, and telling the truth even when it’s uncomfortable.
This is who I am.
This is the life behind everything I write.
